Mothers Who Make: Responding Through Art
Free, drop-in
Join us for A display of art created by mothers in response to Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood in DCA Galleries.
A collaboration between DCA and the University of Dundee, this project saw local mothers responding to the exhibition through art making and sharing their diverse experiences of motherhood.
Three groups of mothers from Dundee International Women's Centre, Breast Buddies Dundee and The Cottage Centre were partnered with artists Kate McLeod, Sara Nevay and Gillian McFarland. They all visited the our galleries and then worked to make their own art.
Researchers from University of Dundee Psychology and Health Sciences were embedded with each group to learn more about the mother’s experiences and the value of art making as a tool to share these. The research findings will be shared with health professionals who work with mothers.
