Dundead Halloween: The Rocky Horror Picture Show (50th Anniversary) with live drag performance
Part of Dundead Halloween 2025.
This screening will include a live drag performance and introduction by Saint Salvatoré and Eden Spaghetti of CLIMAX Dundee.
In many ways, 1975’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the definitive cult movie – it was critically bashed when it was released but found an extremely enthusiastic audience on the midnight movie circuit. And like some sort of mutating science experiment gone gloriously wrong, it has only grown (and grown) since.
An ultra-fierce comedy sci-fi horror musical, the film stars Tim Curry as Dr Frank-N-Furter, the alien cross-dressing mad scientist, as well as Susan Sarandon, Meat Loaf, and Richard O’Brien, who co-wrote the film and created the original stage show (including those iconic songs and lyrics).
The film is a loving homage and tribute to horror and sci-fi B-movies. Shot in the UK, the film used locations and props from old Hammer films. It has been hugely influential, but there really is nothing else quite like The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It's a campy, kitschy riot, and absolutely a film to see with an audience. Feel free to don your brightest sequins but please leave the rice and water pistols at home.
