Family Activity at DCA

Find out what's on for families during June and download our Family Activity Calendar

We host many fun activities for families at DCA, from film screenings and workshops, to free creative activities for all ages and online resources. To make it as easy as possible for you to plan your family trip, our monthly calendar brings everything together in one place.

To coincide with Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood in DCA Galleries, our Bring a Baby: Stay and Play sessions continue throughout June. The only exception is Wed 4 March, when we'll be holding a special writing workshop with Catrin Kemp. This month also sees fun with Soundplay, the chance to get messy and more opportunities to catch Lilo & Stitch on the big screen.

If you're coming along to DCA to enjoy some family activity, don't forget that you can extend your visit with lunch in Jute Café Bar (you can even colour in the kids menu) and a trip to our shop, which stocks some great toys, books and pocket money friendly games.

Download our Family Activity Calendar below, where you'll find dates and times for all of our upcoming events as well as the opening hours for Create Space. You can also scroll down to book for some of our highlights.

Workshops and events

This month we're continuing our programme of events to coincide with our current exhibition, Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood. Join creative producer and Founder & Director of The New Mothers’ Writing Circle, Catrin Kemp, to explore creative writing at our New Mothers as Writers workshop. There's no experience required and young children are welcome.

We're also continuing our Stay and Play sessions, plus we've got more Messy Play dates and Soundplay Projects are back for another drop-in.

In the cinema

There are even more chances to catch Disney's live-action reimagining of their 2002 classic, Lilo & Stitch. And we're challenging you to find Stitch around our building - ask at our Box Office for more info.

Discovery Family Film Club is heading into the woods with Fox and Hare Save the Forest. We've also got a relaxed screening of this fun animated adventure, which is perfect for those who prefer consistent lighting and lower sound levels. You can find out more about our relaxed screenings here and see what else is coming up.
