Family Activity at DCA

Find out what's on for families during May and download our Family Activity Calendar

We host many fun activities for families at DCA, from film screenings and workshops, to free creative activities for all ages and online resources. To make it as easy as possible for you to plan your family trip, our monthly calendar brings everything together in one place.

Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood is open in DCA Galleries. This major group exhibition brings together the joys, heartaches, myths, mess and mishaps of motherhood through over 100 artworks. Our programme of events to coincide with the exhibition continues throughout May. There's also plenty of fun to be had in the cinema with the return of a cheeky alien.

If you're coming along to DCA to enjoy some family activity, don't forget that you can extend your visit with lunch in Jute Café Bar (you can even colour in the kids menu) and a trip to our shop, which stocks some great toys, books and pocket money friendly games.

Download our Family Activity Calendar below, where you'll find dates and times for all of our upcoming events as well as the opening hours for Create Space. You can also scroll down to book for some of our highlights.

Workshops & Events

We've got a packed month of workshops and events. To coincide with Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood, join us for Bring a Baby: Stay and Play and take some time to play and relax together with your baby. For older children there's Family Art Lab, where you can be inspired by the work on show in the galleries to create your own art.

We've also got a special weaving session for families with exhibiting artist Cassie Arnold. And there's even an event for wee ones that haven't arrived yet - our Hello in There Workshop is designed for expectant parents to help you bond with your baby bump.

We're also delighted to welcome Soundplay Projects back for more fun with sound and light. And Drop in and Play is back, with new games for ages 10+ to try.

In the Cinema

Enjoy the wonders of London International Animation Festival Shorts at this month's Discovery Family Film Club. We've got a Relaxed screening too, so you can enjoy these fun adventures in a more relaxed environment.

We're also delighted to bring Flow back. Don't miss your chance to see this award-winning animation on the big screen. And from cats to creatures, Stitch is back in a live-action reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated favourite Lilo & Stitch.
