A look back our 2025 festival

We can't quite believe it but it's been a month since we wrapped on our 2025 Dundead Film Festival.

And what a festival it was! Thank you so much to all who joined us - whether you were there for one film or all of them, you helped to make it our most successful year yet.

We had over 1,400 admissions to our packed programme of premieres and vintage Italian horror titles, including a sold out screening of Suspiria. We also sold out our Dundead Film Quiz, which was won by the 'The Hilltown That Dreaded Sundown'. And you drank Jute CafĂ© Bar dry of Dundead IPA.

We've really enjoyed reading your survey responses, Letterboxd reviews and comment cards, and wanted to share some of our favourites alongside photos and footage from the fest...

We were delighted to have three special guests joining us and you made sure to give them all a wonderful, warm Dundead welcome.

Colin G Cooper, the director of short Bath Bomb, introduced his film alongside our screening of Deep Red. Journalist and creator of the Evolution of Horror podcast Mike Muncer introduced Zombie Flesh Eaters. And writer and podcaster Becky Darke was on hand to introduce our screening of Black Sunday

Here's what they said about their time at Dundead...

We LOVED our weekend at Dundead! Thank you so much for having me, what an honour to introduce Zombie Flesh Eaters!
Mike Muncer
Thank you for having us Dundead! Gorgeous venue, banging films, lovely people and a near religious experience in your projector room. Can we come next year please?
Becky Darke
Such a lovely experience. Many thanks to the Dundead team, and their awesome audience.

People sitting on bean bags in the Dundead Green Room

We asked everyone who came along to fill in a short survey about the festival. One of the questions we asked was 'what did you enjoy most about the festival?' Some strong themes came up, including the mix of films in the programme, the guests and short films, and our new Dundead Green Room.

great mix of retrospective and new films, clearly very carefully and thoughtfully put together

the addition of the green room was an excellent idea

Really good guests introducing the films

generally just great vibes

We also pay attention to the feedback you give online and appreciate all your comments, likes and shares. A special shout out goes to this blog post from The Grump of Horror, which may have brought a (happy) tear to our eyes.

Screen shot of Dundead Film Festival 2025 list on Letterboxd

We asked you to share your reviews on Letterboxd and you didn't let us down. We spotted over 140 reviews that mentioned Dundead. All of these help to spread the word about the festival and we know that the filmmakers behind the previews and shorts we screen really appreciate your feedback and kind words.

We picked out our favourite review to win tickets for our June Dundead screening - thank you to @edenjay for your review of For Night Will Come:

watched this tonight at dundead and it was the UK premier! astoundingly good, left me clutching my heart. every good vampire movie captures living on the edge of society and this one in particular struck me to my core and felt eerily familiar the whole way through.

We also loved reading your Dundead comment cards...

Dundead comment card: Possibly the best Dundead yet
Dundead comment card: A real heartbreaker! A refreshing look at a more vunerable take on vampirism combined with the sense of otherness felt as a teenager
Dundead comment card: Loved every minute of Dundead - exceptional program + delightful venue. I'll be back!
