New films from Fri 29 August
See what's on including The Roses, Highest 2 Lowest, Sorry, Baby and more.
Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch are at the top of their game as a married couple at war with each other in The Roses, arriving at DCA this week. Filled with dark comedy, this new film is a fresh take on 1989’s The War of the Roses.
Spike Lee reimagines Kurosawa’s High and Low in crime thriller Highest 2 Lowest, there’s more time to see Eva Victor’s directorial debut Sorry, Baby and we conclude the Oslo Stories Trilogy with its final film, Sex. Elsewhere, documentary Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk is an intimate, first-hand perspective of life in Gaza.
We begin our Paul Thomas Anderson retrospective with Magnolia (35mm) and we’re screening Battleship Potemkin with Pet Shop Boys score for the film’s 100th anniversary. Finally, our next Discovery Family Film Club film is visually stunning hand-drawn animation Phantom Boy. Enjoy!
