October Holidays at DCA

Find out what's on for families during October and download our Family Activity Calendar

We've filled the October holidays full of family screenings, activities and events to keep everyone entertained while the schools are off.

Ahead of Discovery Film Festival 2025 starting on Sat 25 October, we're revisiting some fantastic short films from our 2024 programme. We've also got a Saturday filled with Soundplay, Messy Play sessions and the chance to add some colour to our Dundee murals.

The fun continues after the holidays with Discovery Film Festival 2025 and exciting new activities in Create Space inspired by our new exhibition by Lauren Gault.

If you're coming along to DCA to enjoy some family activity, don't forget that you can extend your visit with lunch in Jute Café Bar (you can even colour in the kids menu) and a trip to our shop, which stocks some great toys, books and pocket money friendly games.

Download our Family Activity Calendar below, where you'll find dates and times for all of our upcoming events as well as the opening hours for Create Space. You can also scroll down to book for some holiday highlights.

In the cinema

Join us for Discovery Family Film Club screenings of our 2024 Shorts for Wee Ones and Shorts for Families collections - we've got a screening for each day of the school holidays, plus a couple of Relaxed screenings.

And if you're feeling brave enough, don't miss our Dundead Halloween screening of weird fantasy Return to Oz as the film celebrates it's 40th anniversary.

Activities, workshops and events

Add colour to our Dundee murals throughout the October holidays and have a go at our activity sheets featuring characters and places by local illustrator Kate Benzie. We'll have even more activities in Create Space.

We're also looking forward to welcoming Soundplay for two sessions on Sat 11 October, plus babies can get creative at Messy Play. These workshops are bookable with Donate What You Can (£0-£8) tickets.
