Bowie on Film
Join us for a celebration of David Bowie's iconic, electric and eclectic screen performances
As the V&A's dazzling David Bowie: On Tour exhibition opens, Dundee is officially Bowietown this month as the city celebrates the life, work and craft of one of the most important artists of our time.
The exhibition showcases over 100 pieces from Bowie's archive, including costumes, photography, instruments, hand-written lyrics, and more, including material from his work on Jim Henson's beloved film Labyrinth.
Which brings us to our Bowie on Film season. Starting this month, we will be showing a selection of the star's finest screen work, beginning this month with Nicolas Roeg's mind-bending sci-fi The Man Who Fell to Earth. Our season continues in December with Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence, in which Bowie stars as a British prisoner of war who becomes a guard's object of obsession, and which features an unforgettable score by the great Ryuichi Sakamoto. And in January, we will indeed be heading to the Goblin King's ball for a screening Labyrinth.
So, explore the Bowietown happenings across the city, and be sure to join us for these remarkable films.
