Wood Engraving
Learn how to work with this beautiful form of printmaking and use fine engraving tools to create detailed designs.
Create images by cutting into the surface of the end grain of box, lemon or cherry wood. You'll be taken through all stages of the wood engraving process, from preparing woodblocks, and practising on starter blocks to engraving your design, selecting your paper and printing.
You will finish the course with a small collection of prints, block printed in black and white, as well as the wood blocks which can be worked on and re-printed in the future. Please note that we are using end grain wood blocks therefore the prints are petite. This allows the printmaker to create small delicate pieces.
I had a loveliest time learning to engrave with Beth! Very relaxed, inspiring session and I left with a whole bunch of beautiful prints!
Absolutely loved the wood engraving class and Beth! Such a positive and encouraging instructor.
