See what's on, including The Summer Book, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and more
We're off to the sunny lakes of Finland for the school holidays this week: Glenn Close gives a signature star turn as a loving grandmother in the adaptation of Tove Jansson's The Summer Book. This festival favourite joins the record-breaking Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which continues this week, along with Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.
Our Sculpting in Time: Andrei Tarkovsky season, spanning all seven of the legendary filmmaker's works, begins this week with Ivan's Childhood and Andrei Rublev. Dr. Brian Hoyle from the University of Dundee will introduce the screenings of Andrei Rublev and the 40th anniversary of Tarkovsky's final film The Sacrifice (in beautiful 4K).
Then, there's urgent climate crisis documentary The People's Emergency Briefing with a panel discussion with experts; plus, Dundead celebrates the 50th anniversary of John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 with a 4K screening, and the Rip it Up season continues with the award-winning Ish, as well as generational classics Quadropheniaand Bablyon (1980).
