Free activities in Create Space

We're beginning the holidays with our Summer Drop-in. Join our Learning team in Create Space where they'll take you through activities linked to our exhibitions and the family films in our cinemas.

Create Space will also be open through the holidays with free activity sheets and art materials to enjoy, books to browse and toys to play with. Be inspired by Adrián Balseca's show In the Forest Ruins to add a leaf to our rainforest mural and make you own creative portrait, just like Francis Dosoo in his exhibition Portrait of Dorothy Gale. You can also try makes featuring characters from Toy Story 5, Minions & Monsters and Moana.

If you're after a more structured workshop, book Donate What You Can (£0-£8) tickets for Family Art Lab. This session includes a gallery visit and an introduction led by local artists.

Follow and Find Family Activity Trail in DCA Galleries

Be inspired by DCA Galleries

Our Galleries are free to visit and open Tue - Sun, 11:00 - 18:00, with late night opening until 19:00 on Thursdays.

In Gallery 1 you can find Francis Dosoo: Portrait of Dorothy Gale, which features an immersive video work inspired by The Wiz (1978). In Gallery 2 is Adrián Balseca: In the Forest Ruins which includes a sculpture of a giant inflatable Bibendum (Michelin’s mascot) and a garden of plants in a concrete planter.

Our Easy Read Guides are a great way to introduce children to the ideas in the exhibitions and our handling boxes offer the chance to touch materials used in the artworks - just ask a Visitor Assistant if you'd like to use these.

You can also pick up a copy of our Follow and Find: Family Art Trail from Create Space and use this to explore In the Forest Ruins. Have fun following the map around the exhibition and finding all the details it points out.
