You've Been Trumped (PG)

Funny, inspiring and shocking in equal measure, this David and Goliath tale for the 21st century documents what happens when Donald Trump arrives on Aberdeenshire’s coast determined to build what he claims will be “the world's greatest golf course.” The proposal is met with fury by environmental groups – this is one of Britain’s very last stretches of coastal wilderness, and a protected conservation area. But the Scottish Government, wooed by promises of jobs, overturns its own environmental laws to give the tycoon the green light. Now Trump is running roughshod over anyone remaining in his path, including long-term residents whose homes threaten to mar the view (just like the off-shore wind farm planned for the coast). Water and power are cut off, land disputes erupt, and some residents have thousands of tonnes of earth piled up next to their homes. Complaints go ignored by the police, who instead arrest the film’s director in what the National Union of Journalists calls an “unprecedented” breach of media freedom.
You’ve Been Trumped returns to DCA by popular demand in the week Donald Trump finally opens the golf course. This international cinema release version of the film (which has now won 10 major awards) includes a stunning new song from acclaimed Scottish singer songwriter Karine Polwart. Director Anthony Baxter will be present for a special Q&A.
