Games Wanted for Drop in and Play at DCA
Deadline: Sun 30 July
We’re delighted to announce that our popular gaming event, Drop in and Play, is returning to DCA on Sat 5 September 2026 and we're looking for games to showcase! Drop in and Play is sponsored by Ninja Kiwi and this edition is delivered in partnership with Abertay University.
Taking place on Sat 5 September from 12:00 - 16:00, visitors will have the chance to play a range of games before they’re widely available, meet game developers, and share their reactions.
For the event, we’re looking for new and unreleased games made in Scotland, and in particular Dundee. Games must be a completed game or a playable prototype and must be suitable for children and young people.
Applications from individuals, students and small studios are all welcomed: applicants will be expected to supply the computer or device needed to demonstrate their projects. Developers who have previously showcased a game at Drop in and Play may also apply to return.
Drop in and Play provides a great opportunity for game developers to showcase their work to the public, gather feedback on their games, meet other developers and gain publicity through a range of marketing activities.
Developers interested in taking part should send an email to [javascript protected email address] by Sun 30 July, including the following information:
- Name and/or studio name
- A short description of their game and the intended target age group/audience
- Links to any relevant resources
- Social media handle/website (if available)
- Recommended age rating for game
Drop in and Play is a free DCA gaming event which was first held in November 2012 as part of NEoN Digital Arts Festival and Discovery Film Festival. Our September event is presented in partnership with Ninja Kiwi who have been making awesome games since 2005. Developers of the hit Bloons series of games, Ninja Kiwi are always striving to make the most enjoyable experiences for audiences across the globe from their offices in Dundee, Scotland and Auckland, New Zealand.
This September event will also include games from Abertay University’s 2026 DARE Academy. The DARE Academy games design competition gives six teams of talented students the opportunity to spend the summer creating their own game with support from expert mentors. Students work together across a range of disciplines to create game prototypes - all of which will be available to play at Drop in and Play.
