Captioned, audio described and relaxed screenings
It’s time to take a look at the latest accessible events at DCA.
In DCA Cinema, we’ve got captioned and audio described screenings of the latest films, including A Minecraft Movie, Mr Burton and Sinners. You can also join us for a relaxed screenings ofThe Stimming Pool, an experimental feature film co-created by a collective of autistic artists.
Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood opens in DCA Galleries on Sat 19 April. Exhibition notes in accessible formats, audio descriptions of the exhibition and a sensory bags will be available after the exhibition opening, with more details coming soon.
There are more accessible films to come in the final week of April (Fri 25 April - Thu 1 May). This story will be updated once these screenings are confirmed.

Please note: all of our Bring a Baby screenings for the month of April are also captioned, except When Autumn Falls which is in French with English subtitles. Bring a Baby is our series of screenings for people taking care of babies under 12 months old.

Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood

The exhibition notes for Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood will be available in audio and large print formats. These can be accessed after the exhibition opens on Sat 19 April.
Visitors to Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood will be able to access a sensory box which contains materials like those used in the exhibition. Please ask one of our gallery Visitor Assistants if you'd like to see the sensory box and handle these tactile samples.
Two sensory bags are also available which include ear defenders, sunglasses, a magnifying glass, a drawing pad, reading overlays and fidget toys. Please ask one of our gallery Visitor Assistants if you'd like to use the sensory bags. You can read more about sensory bags: here.

Visitors to DCA Galleries will be able to access audio descriptions for selected works in Acts of Creations: On Art and Motherhood by scanning the QR codes on the gallery walls.
Audio descriptions of the exhibition, provided by visual describer Juliana Capes, will also be available via Bloomberg and Soundcloud, with more details coming soon.
There will be a Quiet Space available next to the exhibition, where visitors can take the time to pause. There will be comfy seating and a calm environment to rest in, along with resources on local community and support groups. Read more about this: here.
