Toni Collette stars in this rousing story of triumph over adversity through one woman’s extraordinary ambition to breed a champion racehorse in her home village. Directed by Welsh TV director Euros Lyn, this is a dramatic take on the true story featured in the documentary Dark Horse: The Incredible True Story of Dream Alliance, which screened at DCA in 2015.

“…a feel-good film which celebrates the determination and power of a community coming together”

When Jan Vokes (Collette), a Welsh cleaner and bartender, overhears a customer (Damian Lewis) at the pub talking about a racehorse he once owned, she is inspired to acquire her own. Managing to persuade her neighbours and friends to invest in her crazy scheme, they proceed, naming their foal ‘Dream Alliance’ and rearing him together. Against all odds, he rises through the ranks, proving himself to be more than a match for the multi-million-pound racehorses he comes up against – a true people’s champion from a working-class Welsh community, taking on the equestrian establishment at their own game.

An unashamed crowd-pleaser, this is a feel-good film which celebrates the determination and power of a community coming together for a common cause. Featuring excellent performances from Collette and Lewis in particular, amid a wider cast including Owen Teale, Siân Phillips and Gavin & Stacey‘s Joanna Page, you’ll be cheering Dream Horse on all the way to the finish line.

When you're booking your cinema ticket you'll notice the cinema has been divided into 'bubbles' in order to maintain social distancing. You won't be able to book part of a bubble, but you can book more than one. If you can’t find a combination of seats that suits your group please get in touch and we’ll try to help, although capacity is very limited in all screenings.

Each bubble may only be occupied by a single household: if you're visiting with people from another household they should book a separate bubble.

If you need to book one of our wheelchair seats please contact our box office team on 01382 432 444, or email
