“There’s two kinds of people, Dad. The ones who have a B.Bot… and the ones who don’t.”

But do you really need a B.Bot to have a social life? That’s the worry for Barney, a socially awkward middle-schooler, who fears his B.Bot-free life is the root of all his problems. But when he finally gets to meet Ron, his new walking, talking, digitally-connected device, and is promised an all-new “Best Friend Out Of The Box”, that’s just the start of a whole new set of problems. When Ron begins to have a series of hilarious malfunctions, all set against the backdrop of the social media age, they are launched into an action-packed journey in which boy and robot come to terms with the wonderful messiness of true friendship.

“…boy and robot come to terms with the wonderful messiness of true friendship”

This all new family animation features a script co-written by Peter Baynham – whose writing career brought us Sacha Baron Cohen’s two Borat movies as well as more traditional family fare like Arthur Christmas. It’s directed by members of the film teams who created Coco, The Good Dinosaur and The Incredibles 2. The characters are voiced by Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Jack Dylan Grazer (Luca, Shazam) and Oscar, Emmy and BAFTA winner (and current Queen of British cinema) Olivia Colman. With such a talented creative team, plus its focus on family and friendship, and sticking together through thick and thin, it’s got ‘classic Disney’ stamped all over it.
