Titanic

James Cameron

Who can forget the first time they saw Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet standing on the edge of the majestic Titanic, with their hair flapping in the wind and the sounds of James Horner’s soundtrack in the background? The film is an epic, action-packed romance set against the ill-fated maiden voyage of the unsinkable Titanic, the most luxurious liner of the era, the ship which tragically sank on 15 April 1912.

"An epic, action-packed romance..."

Rose is a 17-year-old upper-class American who falls for a free-spirited young steerage passenger named Jack. When he opens her eyes to the world that lies outside her gilded cage, their forbidden love sparks a powerful mystery that echoes across the years into the present.

Here’s your chance to revisit the magic of this classic love story set against a background of sumptuous interiors and gorgeous costumes.

Our first collaboration with V&A Dundee is a cinematic celebration of Ocean Liners: Speed and Style, the first exhibition to fully explore the design and cultural impact of ocean liners on an international scale. We hope this eclectic mix of films will inspire you to explore how the movie industry chose to depict life on board – sometimes glamorous, sometimes dangerous – but always exciting. Ocean Liners: Speed and Style is the first in a series of major changing exhibitions at V&A Dundee.
