Discovery Young Programmers 2026
Our Discovery Young Programmers have been learning about festival programming
Discovery Young Programmers are a group of 15- to 18-year-olds who are passionate about film. They attended a two-week summer programme to learn about film programming through a series of sessions and workshops with DCA staff and visiting guest experts, as well as attending film screenings in our cinema.
This year's Discovery Young Programmers are Emily, Mia, Izzy and Logan, and they have selected the film Congo Boy to share with our audiences during this year's Discovery Film Festival.
Congo Boy screens at DCA on Sun 8 November, 15:30. Tickets are Donate What You Can, from £0 to £8, booking now.
About the film
Congo Boy is a gripping drama with a fantastic soundtrack and uplifting message.
Set in Central African Republic, 17-year-old Congolese teenager Robert dreams of a career in music, but civil war is tearing the country apart. When both his parents are thrown into prison, he is left to look after his four younger siblings on his own, juggling daily life, odd jobs, school exams and concert stages, but he is determined to follow his dream.
